PRE-PROCEDURE CARE FOR PERMANENT MAKEUP
PRE-PROCEDURE CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Permanant Makeup
GUIDELINES FOR ALL PROCEDURES
Everyone healing at a different rate, all permanent cosmetic procedures(Eyebrows, Eyeliner, and Lips) are a multi-session process. You are required to come back for at least one touch-up visit before it can be determined that your work is complete.
The technician will work with you on scheduling the second touch-up appointment usually within 3-5 weeks.
-
Remove all eye makeup with a mild, oil-free cleanser prior to your appointment.
-
Shower before your appointment if possible.
-
No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure
-
Do not work out 24 hours before the procedure.
-
Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure.
-
Please plan ahead and for at least 2 weeks, you will need to avoid the following:
-
Any tweezing or waxing by the eyebrows area
-
Eyelash, eyebrows tinting or eyelash curling
-
Extreme exercise prior to or directly after a procedure
-
Apply makeup on the treated areas
-
-
Please allow time for the procedure to heal before going on vacation or attending any special events.
-
Direct sun contacts for a long period of time or tanning prior to or after the procedure.
-
Avoid the following Glycolics, Chemical Peels and Retin-A 4 weeks prior.
-
Turn off your cellphone just prior to your appointment.
-
Wash hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before touching the treated area.
-
Please tell your technician if you have any irritation around the eyebrows or eyeliner area or any allergies and if you are in your menstrual cycle as well.
The outcome of permanent cosmetic procedures is dictated by the canvas (your skin). The better condition your skin is in, the better the final result will be. Very oily, dry, or sun damaged skin can be very difficult to achieve a beautiful even result. Mature clients may need an additional one to two weeks healing for the final results to appear. For eyebrows, “Bald spots’ on the skin where the pigment did not take after the first application, this is a normal condition it will be corrected during the second session. For eyeliner, it is normal for the lower eyeliner to actually disappear after the first application. This condition can be caused by quick healing or swelling of the area, or histamine production (which can reject the pigment), we’ll try to correct it during the second session.
POSSIBLE RISKS, HAZARDS, OR COMPLICATIONS
-
Pain: There can be pain even after the topical anesthetic has been used. Anesthetics work better on some people than others.
-
Infection: Infection is very unusual. The areas treated must be kept clean and only freshly cleaned hands should touch the areas. See “After Care” for instructions on the website.
-
Uneven Pigmentation: This can result from poor healing, infection, bleeding or many other causes. Your follow up appointment will likely correct any uneven appearance.
-
Allergic Reaction: If there is any concern for an allergic reaction to pigments, a patch test can be done. However, if an allergic reaction to occur, it may not show up for a long period of time, making the patch test inconclusive.
-
Asymmetry: Every effort will be made to avoid asymmetry but our facial features may not be symmetrical so adjustments may be needed during the follow up session to correct any unevenness.
-
Excessive Swelling: Clients with sensitive skin are more prone to swelling. This should dissipate within 24 hours. Some case may be longer up to 42 hours.
-
Acne prone: If acne is present on the forehead area, the brows may not heal correctly. If acne is a consistent issue, please consider having semi permanent makeup done is not in your best interest.
-
Anesthesia: Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area to be tattooed. Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Benzocaine, Tetracaine and Epinephrine in a cream or gel form are typically used. If you are allergic to any of these please inform me now.
-
MRI: Because pigments used in permanent cosmetic procedures contain inert oxides, a low level magnet may be required if you need to be scanned by an MRI machine. You must inform your technician of any tattoos or permanent cosmetics.
Note: Swelling is normal for all procedures. Apply an ice pack for 10 minutes or less. Dry skin, itching, and tenderness on treated areas are normal. These symptoms will stop and vary on an individual basis. If you decide to self-medicate before any procedure (such as taking Benadryl, a relaxant, etc.) you must have a ride home, as this may impair your ability to drive.
